Hi! I am the Chief Inspiration Officer of Transitioning Adults plus® and we are happy to have you join us in the TAP Community. The community is for you – a place to meet people who are interested in aging gracefully, choosing where and how to live, care giving in the family, and lots’ more.
In the US the person who is most likely to take up the role of caregiver in a family is the oldest daughter (or daughter-in-law). She is frequently in her mid to late forties when care giving tasks are first needed. She may be caring for her parents, her spouses parents or her spouse while still raising children at home or in college. At the same time many men are also caring for loved ones. In some families the care giving responsibilities fall to both spouses as different illnesses may present causing each person to need some extra assistance from the other.
And care giving is not limited to what you do for people in your home or neighborhood. Many caregivers are managing care for family members who are thousands of miles away. As you can see the mix is diverse and we hope that this community will show that diversity.
TAplus has been blogging for quite awhile. Check out some of our past and current articles by selecting TAP Tips Online in the menu to the left. We would love to hear from you there or here within the TAP Community! Feel free to start your own blogs, post comments or interact through the private messaging system.
And if you find that you need a little more help than you can get by reading our posts and asking questions online Transitioning Adults plus® provides person centered life transition guidance to families like yours who are facing changes and want a little help planning. We can let life happen to us or take the reins and determine our own outcomes. Talk to one of our Care Liaisons about the services we offer and the free training workshops we provide.
